|
Yes...
everyone needs a passport to travel to Bhutan and it must have a validity
of at least six months beyond your intended stay. |
|
What
other travel documents do I need? |
|
Unless
you are an Indian nationality holding a valid Indian Passport, all other
nationalities need a visa to enter Bhutan. |
|
How
can I get Bhutan visa? Are there any other countries from where I can get
a visa? How long does it take? |
|
We
as a travel agent based in Bhutan can get your visa. The easiest way to
get your visa is through your Bhutan tour agent. You simply need to fax
or email your passport details and your intended duration of stay with
dates of travel. Once we get this information we apply on your behalf.
Your visa is then ready in 10 days. A visa number is then faxed or emailed
to you- this confirms your visa for your arrival to Bhutan. When you arrive
at Paro airport or at the border at Phuentsholing (for those using the
land option), you will then have your visa stamped on your passport; please
have 3 passport size photos to be used upon arrival, and visa fees of US$
20 is to be paid directly. Visas are not issued at Bhutanese Embassies
and missions abroad. |
|
Why
is there a fixed cost for travel to Bhutan? And why is it relatively more
expensive than neighboring destinations? |
|
The
fixed cost that you pay is not just a fee for entry to Bhutan. This cost
is a package tour cost that covers all your hotel, meals, transfers to
and from the airport or border, transport for sightseeing with knowledgeable
English speaking local guide, all inland permits and fees. And if you are
trekking this covers all expenses for the treks such as horses/yaks, guide,
all tenting/camping equipment, meals and transport. The government largely
controls this fixed tariff and all tour companies must charge the established
rate. Working directly with our agency will provide the greatest flexibility
and the lowest cost possible. The government controls the cost in order
manage tourism in a sustainable way, to grow sensibly without taxing on
the environment and allowing for unchecked growth with all the negative
aspects both to the environment and more importantly on the culture. The
only way to visit Bhutan is by purchasing a tour with a reliable and licensed
travel agency at these rates. With only 2-3 percent growth in tourism in
the last 20 years, the country has marvelously preserved its age old traditions,
its beautiful monasteries and temples; the river is still clean and habitable
for its creatures, there are no large cities, and slums, and one will not
find beggars in the streets. Bhutan promises to charm you with an unspoiled
ancient landscape and quietly challenge your view of the world. |
|
Can
I travel as an individual with a tour guide? |
|
Individual
travel is possible in Bhutan; costs for single only travel is US$ 40 extra
per night halt. |
|
Can
I decide on what I see in Bhutan or do I have to go with a planned tour? |
|
As
you explore our website, you will certainly realize we are not your run-of-the-mill
'active adventure' company. One of the main differences is that you can
tell us exactly when you want to travel, instead of us giving you a pre-set
schedule of tours to choose from. We are also open to any size group. Furthermore,
our tours are very flexible and open to your input, as well as what might
be called 'the pleasure of chance', the small, daily discoveries that make
traveling so exciting. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, we quietly and efficiently
take care of a multitude of details in order to ensure that you have a
care- free, fun-filled adventure in one of the worlds most enchanting countries,
BHUTAN: The Treasure Chest Of The Himalayas! Pick from among our sample
tours, mix and match or start from scratch. Either way, we can tailor a
tour to best fit your travel desires. All this adds up to making your holiday
truly personalized and unique, with expert guidance to help pave the way
towards having a wonderful, and memorable time in Bhutan. You will have
to go as per the tour itinerary if you are part of a group tour. |
