Child
sexual abuse has been recognized as a social malaise that is prevalent
with in and outside the home and among all socio-economic strata in the
south Asia region. The aim of this second phase study was to achieve a
fairly representative survey on the level of understanding of child sexual
abuse and the prevalence of different forms of sexual abuse among children
outside the Nepal. |

The
goal of the present study is to contribute towards providing a safer environment
in different localities where all girls and boys are able to exercise their
right to protection against child sexual abuse along with their rights
to quality primary educations.
The
study focused in and around the municipality areas of Pokhara, Biratnagar,
Narayanghat and Birendranagar and few VDC areas. Data from 4,100 students
from grade five to ten in government and private schools were gathered.
Qualitative research part-mainly focused on group discussions with children
in difficult circumstances such as street children and squatter area children
and children in non-government institutions from the same areas. Questionnaire
surveys were also done. Children from different grades, age, sex and status
were chosen with at least 500 cases from each district; totaling 2,000
cases.
