Kathmandu:
Airport procedures at Tribhuvan International Airport
Entering
the TIA's arrival area you can see several queues of tourists: lines for
the Nepali-Indian counter, lines for visitors with visas, lines for visitors
without visas, lines to apply for visa, lines to pay visa fees. Where to
go first? Immigration changed its rules so that visitors can pay $30 on
arrival for a three-month visa, but they scrapped the multiple entry provision
at the airport. Tourists still have to fill out a visa form, wait
in line again to present it at the counter. After that they have to move
on to another line to pay the fee, and wait again to have the passport
stamped. On average you are lucky if this procedure takes only one hour.
Manang:

and Phu, the two northernmost tourist destinations of the Manang district

Tourist
entry point to the Chitwan National Park (RCNP) which had been closed
since three years back without any good reason has been reopened raising
hopes of thriving business there. The Kujauli entry point that served as
a convenient entry into the RCNP for foreigners as well as domestic tourists
since 1994 had been shut down in 2000. The Kujauli entry point is on the
bank of the Narayani River, three-km away from the Faram Bazaar. This point
holds a special significance with captivating scenes of natural beauty.
After the reopening of this entry point hotel entrepreneurs have once again
decided to resume their businesses which had died down earlier.

Kathmandu:
Travelling in a bus- Beware of pickpockets!
Gang
of pickpockets are boarding city busses to steal valuable from the passengers
on broad-day-light. Broad-day-light robberies are very common in Kathmandu,
unfortunately. Kalanki and Bus Park at Gongabu are two such junctions in
the capital, where thousands of travellers going out of and coming into
the capital gather every morning and evening - between 4:00 to 7:00 am
and 4:00 to 7:00 pm, and sometimes even later. There are incidents of pick-pocketing
and there are incidents of broad day-light robberies, which are very serious
and scary. The bus drivers say they are familiar with the happenings, but
reject charges that they often get a slice from the pies that the pickpockets
make.
Manthali:
Travellers victims of robberies
People
travelling along the highway from Dumja to Sindhuli and Ramechhap
are recently being forced to bear the brunt of robbers, while passing through
the jungle region along this route. Some armed robbers have been lurking
along this path, situated at the quiet and deserted part of the jungle.
It
is learnt that within a one-month period, more than 200 incidents of robbing
have taken place along this path. Usually these robbers come in groups
of three. No security exists along this path, leaving a field day for the
robbers to commit such crimes.
Government
opens 50 more mountains

the occasion of golden jubilee celebrations of the first ascent of the
Mount Everest, the Government today opened 50 more mountains for mountaineers.

to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation with this, the total
number of mountains open for mountaineers has reached to 326. Among
the newly opened summits, the highest is Mount Kabra, 7,318 metres.
Mount Kabra is in Kanchanjungha mountain range.
