Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck's visit in Switzerland
Her Majesty the Queen Ashi Tshering Pem Wangchuck returned from a visit to the US and Switzerland after presiding over the second annual meeting of the Bhutan Foundation in New York and addressing a "Bhutan Festival" in Rigi, central Switzerland, as the chief guest.

Delivering a keynote address on "Youth & Unemployment in Bhutan" Her Majesty said that urbanisation, literacy and exposure to other cultures where life-styles and priorities were different had created social and psychological problems alien to the past generations of Bhutanese. Her Majesty explained the government's policies and programmes to address unemployment and underemployment in Bhutan, saying that "..the risk of inaction and indifference is simply too great.
