» Success: Royal Nepal Army (RNA) claims success in operation against Maoist rebels. According to RNA sources, the Army has successfully flushed Maoist rebels from hideouts in the remote mountains of western Nepal.
» Verbal salvos: Government sources reiterated the claim saying Baburam Bhattarai, politburo member of CPN (M), and his wife were expelled from the party due to differences of opinion in the leadership. A Maoist statement was refuting the rumours about the expulsion of Bhattarai from the party last week.
» Maoist heartland: Fear rules in the Maoist rural stronghold of Rolpa district, a report said. "Maybe only 30 or 40 percent of people support the Maoists," an observer said.

» Murder: Maoists killed Radio Nepal journalist Dhan Bahadur Roka Maga after six months in captivity. The journalist was abducted by the Maoist rebels in July 2004  from Pyuthan district.
» Interactions: The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) organised interaction programs to pressure government to allow greater press freedoms across the country.

» Rolpa road: Maoist workers have built a 90 km long dirt road , a so called "Martyrs' road" winding through the Maoist heartland of Rolpa. The Maoist authorities in Rolpa district have asked every family to contribute one person's labour for 10 days. It is the first time that the Maoists have finished such a infrastructure project in one of  the Maoist  controlled areas.
» Human rights: Army sources confirmed that the Royal Nepales Army has took action against human rights violaters in their own ranks. The RNA has investigated into 40 cases of human rights abuse.
» Secret meeting: According to the RNA spokesman Brig. Gen. Dipak Gurung, Maoist cadres have met in Delhi (India) to discuss a circular who confirmed the demotion of the deputy leader of CPN (M), Baburam Bhattarai.  Baburam Bhattarai was in charge of the central division, ranking next to the CPN (Maoist) supreme commander Prachanda. The Maoist spokesman denied recently reports saying Bhattarai and his wife were expelled from the party .
» Military aid: The RNA is not worried by the blockade of military aid as we have sufficient weapons in stock and the infrastructure to produce small arms and bullets by ourselves, an Army statement said.
» Facts & figures: 886 Maoists had been killed and 168 injured in the past six months. Another 244 had surrendered while 501 were nabbed during the period. Similarly, the security forces defused 190 improvised explosive devices and seized a large number of arms and ammunition from the terrorists, the Army spokesman said.
» Clashes: Clashes between Maoist rebels and security forces were reported from Gulmi, Kaski and Kapilbastu  districts.
» Campaign?: Maoist cadres favoring Baburam Bhattarai have begun wall paintings with slogans like 'down with Prachanda Path', 'declare cease-fire' and 'hold peace talks', among others, in various places of Dolakha and Baglung districts, the RNA informed.

» Reality: "The picture we get in Kathmandu is a rosy one that does not correspond with the reality of escalating conflict and increased insecurity. The situation here is very difficult to analyse as we lack proper information", a Swiss development expert said.
» Opinion: "Maoists are stronger than before", a leader of Nepal's government-appointed human rights commission said in New York.

» Attack: Maoist rebels killed three army personnel, who were not carrying any weapons, after kidnapping them while they were on their way home on leave in Ramchhap district.
» Crisis: Experts chose Nepal as the world's ninth-worst neglected crisis. 
» Press freedom: Hundreds of journalists in Nepal have held demonstrations across the country demanding the restoration of press freedom.
» Indian border: India is to almost double the number of troops guarding its border with Nepal and Bhutan.
» Maoist arrested: Indian Police arrested three suspected Maoists in the Indian state of West Bengal.
» Maoist arrested: The Army has launched security operations in Achham , Bara, Morang districts.
