» Gunbattle in Bardiya: According to Army sources, at least 50 Maoist rebels and four security personnel have been killed in the deadliest gunbattle since the imposition of state of emergency on February 1 . The fightings erupted after a group of security forces sent to clear a roadblock was attacked by hundreds Maoists rebels.

» US said: US acting in concert with India on Nepal.
» Encounter: Security forces clashed with Maoist rebels when the rebels attacked a Army patrol in Kailali district. The rebels have suffered casualties.
» Journalists: The Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) has demanded release of its two representatives from southern district of Saptari.

» Announcement: The government said it was stockpiling food and fuel as it braced for more protests by Maoist rebels and tightened security, asking citizens to carry identity cards.

» Bomb factory: RNA forces have destroyed abomb-making factory set up by Maoist rebels in Chitwan district, an Army statment said.
» Looting: Maoist rebels looted two tankers of kerosene on the border between Panchthar and Taplejung districts.
» Dilemma: "The developments in Nepal will bring the monarchy and mainstream political parties in direct confrontation with each other" an member of the Indian government said. India's dilemma is to tackle monarchy or the Maoists.
» Attack: Security forces repulsed a Maoist attack at Sandhikharka, headquarters of Arghakhanchi district .
» Success: "The Army achieved a major success during clashes with Maoists at Ganeshpur of Bardiya district," the RNA Chief of Army Staff  said.

» Strike: A 1,000-hour bandh announced by the  Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) has left the people in a state of panic, observers said. The bandh is likely to begin on March 14.
» Curfew : The district administration has announced an indefinite night curfew at Kakarvitta (Indo-Nepal border) in Jhapa district.
» Death toll: About 185 people have died in guerrilla violence since Gyanendra's power grab on Feb. 1.
» Attack: According to Indian sources, King Gyanendra has made an assurance that steps are being taken to relax some of these measures in the near future. The King has also confirmed his commitment to restore a multiparty democracy at the earliest.

» Border force: India has stepped up security on its border with Nepal.
» Food shortage : The food crisis has already begun in Kalikot, Humla, Mugu, Dolpa, and Jumla districts. The The UN's World Food Programme (WFP) said it needed more and better information on the food situation in the villages
» Independent sources: Independent reporting in dozens of private radio stations has been stopped since last month and any media outlet that is seen as encouraging the Maoists could be penalised.
