» Donations: Maoists had asked all the school teachers in Chitwan district to provide ten percent of their Dashain allowance to the rebels compulsorily.
» Abductions: Maoists have abducted over 2000 people including students and teachers in Achham in district. the abducted people have to attend Maoist educations programmes.
» Maoist ceasefire: The US ambassador to Nepal, Moriarty, said, "US welcomes any measures taken to reduce violence in Nepal." Nepali people should not expect too much from the truce.
» Reduction: The incidences of insurgency-related violence have drastically reduced since the announcement of the unilateral ceasefire by the Maoist leader.
» Polls: Nepal's Election Commission said it had begun preparing for municipal elections to be held by April 2006.

» Foreign Aid: Aid agencies are to resume one of Nepal's most successful poverty-alleviation projects, which was suspended in May in protest against assaults on female staff by Maoist rebels. The aid agencies have assured that the Maoists have apologised and guaranteed the total security of their staff. Observers say the apology by the Maoists is part of a bridge-building exercise by the rebel group.
» No political force: The US government would not see Maoist insurgents of Nepal as a legitimate political force unless they give up violence, a senior US official said.

» Clashes: Army sources reported that security forces clashed with Maoist rebels in Palpa und Tehrathum districts.
» No truce: Experts say that the recent clashes are a clear indication that the government does not want peace and that it does not believe in the ceasefire.

» Maoist asylum: The Indian Chief Minister of West Bengal claimed that Maoist came after any incident in eastern Nepal to Darjeeling (India).
» Hunger strike: Maoist leader, S.A. Magar who is in army detention demanded that he would start a fast unto death, if his demand for transfer to prison from the army barracks is not fulfilled.
» Killing: Maoist rebels have shot dead an unarmed security man in Dailekh district, army sources said.
» Abductions: Maoist rebels abducted over 200 civilians from villages of Salyan district in a bid to force them to participate in their education campaigns.
