For the fourth day in a row, the meeting of the
Constituent Assembly was postponed amid protests by Madhesi members demanding
the inclusion in the Fifth Amendment to the Interim Constitution of a provision
that will guarantee an autonomous Madhes state. |

Co-operation:
Nepal's major parties should cooperate in a coalition
government led by the Maoists, who won the April Constituent Assembly (CA)
elections, to help the world's newest republic avoid political instability,
the International Crisis Group said. The International Crisis Group released

UN mission:
The Nepali government has formally requested the UN for
extension of the term of the world forum's mission by another six months.

UN mission:
The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) officially
closed down its regional offices in the Mid- and Far-Western regions. The
caretaker Government has sent a request for a further extension of the
mandate for six months. UNMIN will maintain a presence in the seven Maoist
army cantonment sites where weapons are stored, but with the CA election
successfully completed it no longer maintain teams in the five regions.
