» Buddhist meeting: Maoist rebels called off a their two-day bandh (general strike) in Rupandehi district to let delegates attend  2nd World Buddhist Summit near the birthplace of Gautama Buddha. Security forces have deployed hundreds of extra troops after at least three bombs exploded in Rupandehi district
» Ceasefire: Maoist rebels have declared a three-day unilateral ceasefire during the Buddhist Summit in Lumbini, Rupandehi district.
» Military training: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has alleged that Nepalese Maoist rebels have been providing guerrilla training to United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) and Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) activists in Maoist camps in Jhapa district.

» Disappearances: A United Nations fact finding mission is to visit Nepal next week to investigate the large number of political disappearances. There are now more political disappearances in Nepal than in any other country.
» Human rights: National and international observers say Nepal's human rights situation is virtually out of control.
» Tourture: The Maoists have brutally tortured several women accusing them of inciting an anti-Maoist campaign in Baglung district. The tortured activists aligned with the PFN have vowed to continue their campaign against the Maoists atrocities in the area.
» Bomb explosions: Two near-simultaneous blasts have rocked Kathmandu. One explosion has struck a building housing Nepal's election office in the capital. A second explosion has hit  the election office in Patan. Police sources said the blasts followed the pattern of the Maoist attacks.

» Baglung: Hundreds of women activists participated in a Maoist Exposure Programme initiated by People's Front Nepal (PFN). The PFN had launched its campaign following a brutal attacks by Maoist rebels on its cadres.
» Recruiting: The Royal Nepalese Army (RNA) is planning to induct 17,000 new recruits.
» Dailekh: The whereabouts of the dozen people who were abducted by the Maoists last month for standing up against them is still unknown.
» Kapilvastu: Maoist rebels have attacked an RNA patrol with crude bombs and killed six soldiers. Dozens of rebels were killed in the gunbattle, RNA sources said

» Activities: Last week Maoist and security forces activities were reported e.g. from Arghakhanchi, Baglung, Banke, Baradiya, Bhojpur, Dang, Jhapa, Kailali, Kalikot, Kapilvastu , Morang, Kavrepalanchowk, Morang, Pyuthan, Rautahat, Rupandehi, Sarlahi, Saptari, Syangja, Sindhupalchowk, Taplejung districts.
» Disappearances: A United Nations fact-finding mission has begun an investigation into political disappearances in Nepal. The majority of disappeared people have reportedly disappeared after they were taken into custody by security forces. Maoist rebels are accused of torture.
» Strike: A daylong general strike called by ANISU-R, All Nepal National Independent Students Union (Revolutionary), affected normal life in Mechi and Koshi zones.
» Campaing: The anti-Maoist campaign, which started in Dailekh, is spreading to Baglung, Pyuthan and Terhathum districts. 
» Landmined highways: Maoist rebels are obstructing the vehicalr traffic along the East-West Highway by obstructions booby-trapped with bombs.

» Pyunthan, Arghakhanchi : Several locals were killed in the crossfire of the gunbattle during a search operation conducted by RNA forces. 
» Dang, Rautahat: Clashes erupted between security forces and Maoist rebels.
» Highway blockade: Maoist rebels have announced to lift their blockades on Mahendra highway. The highway has been blocked by Maoists for the last three weeks for tactical reasons.
» No talks: CPN-Maoist chairman Prachanda  has reiterated that his party is ready to hold talks. CPN-M wish to solve the problem through dialogue. However, the Maoist top leader has ruled out peace talks with the present government.
» Friendly party: The Maoist leader Prachanda is considering the CPN (Masal) a party friendly to the Maoists.
