The Annapurna
Circuit is a popular trekking destination in Nepal. This region is
attracting more than 70 percent of all trekkers in Nepal every year. This
trek offers to see all aspects of green forests, tremendous mountain scenery,
a mosaic of cultures of different ethnic groups. |
|
|
The
trail leads northwards initially, crossing paddy fields before dissecting
the Marsyangdi river gorge, it passes through various interesting
villages on route.
The
journey initially comprises of a fairly steady ascent which eventually
emerges (with a dramatic change of scenery) into the arid Manang valley.
This region is much more tibetanlike in out look and lifestyle. |
|
|
The
following delightful few days are spent with sightseeings around the valley,
which offers some tremendous views and some fascinating settlements.
A
day is taken for side trekkings and for acclimatization purposes before
continuing our tour by crossing Thorung-La (5,416 m). This
is a long but very rewarding day with splendid views of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri
and Annapurna ranges. |

|
We
are visiting Muktinath, a holy pilgrimage site for both Hindu and
Buddhists. In addition, Tilicho Lake (5,119 meters) is lying on one
of the highest elevations of the world and the Kaligandaki gorge which is regarded as one of the deepest gorges on earth have been the facts
that make people eager to visit the region. If you are making your trek
in March-April, you will enjoy with colorful rhododendrons (the
national flower of Nepal).
