Patan |
Patan
has an unique atmosphere with a lot of temples and monasteries. Jawalakhel
is the valley's artisan centre and lies to southeast of the Durbar Square.

is the Kathmandu Valley's second largest city. Patan is also known as Lalitpur
and is the architetural and artistic centre of the valley. The city is
separated from the capital by the Bagmati river. The development
of Patan is centred around the Durbar Square which is densely packed with
Hindu temples. |

Palung |
Palung is
a settlement of Newars who moved here from Patan some 600 years ago. The
valley is situated 65 km from Kathmandu at an altitude of 2,100 m on the
Tribhuvan Highway that leads to the Indian border. Palung is set in a beautiful
and serene valley surrounded by terraced fields. It lies just below the
village of Tistung.

Pokhara |
Pokhara
is situated 200 km west of Kathmandu at an altitude of 827 m above sea
level. Pokhara is connected by air as well or by a five hours bus ride
from Kathmandu. The Pokhara valley is one of the most picturesque spots
of Nepal. The beauty of the valley is enhanced by its lovely lakes
Phewa, Begnas and Rupa, which have their source in the glacial region of
the Annapurna Range.

Janakpur |
Janakpur is
the birthplace of Sita, heroin of the great Hindu epic. Ramayana is situated
in the Terai plains. Thousands of pilgrims flock here throughout the year
to pay homage at the Janaki Mandir, Ram Sita Bibah Mandap and Hanuman temple.
Janakpur is the centre of Maithili culture and the magnificent Janaki Mandir
is one of Nepal's architectural showpieces. It is 375 km southeast of Kathmandu.

Tansen |
Tansen is
situated south of Pokhara at an altitude of 1,371 m midway down the Sidhhartha
Highway in western Nepal. It is a pristine hill town yet untouched by mass
tourism. Tansen has perhaps Nepal's most far stretching views of the Himalayas
- from Dhaulagiri in the west to Gauri Shanker in the north-east. The town
sprawls over a steep ridge and attractive Newar houses line its cobbled
streets. The hilltop of Srinagar is a popular vantage point with Himalayan
sightseers.

Thimi |
Some
ten kilometers east from Kathmandu and three kilometers west from Bhaktapur
lies an ancient town Thimi.Thimi is best known for finest traditional crafts
and rich culture. It is also famous for terra-cotta earthen wares cum sculptures,
papier mache and clay masks, puppets, traditional hand woven clothes and
other handicrafts. Art lovers should not miss visiting Thimi to see splendid
craftmanship and cretivity of the people of Thimi.
Many
festivals are celebrated and music as well as dances are performed here
on various occasions. One can experience a typical way of lifestyle by
staying here for a few days. Whilst one returns from Thimi, small clay
pots, clay sculptures, varieties of masks, jeweleries and various types
of dresses, bags, wallets, caps and other sovenir pieces made of traditional
clothes can be excellent for taking with them.
